Main Article Content
Abstract
The objectives of this research were to compare English speaking ability and attitudes towards English speaking of Mattayomsuksa 3 students who were taught through normal communicative language teaching approach with those who were taught through integrating communicative language teaching with learning strategies. The research samples consisted of Mattayomsuksa 3 students in the academic year 2022 at one school under the secondary educational service area office Nakhon Si Thammarat, consisting of two classes with 30 students in each, 60 students in total, obtained by multi-stage sampling. The research instruments included learning management plans based on normal communicative language teaching approach, learning management plans based on integrating communicative language teaching with learning strategies, an English-speaking ability test, and a questionnaire to assess attitudes towards English speaking. The data were analyzed using the mean, standard division, and testing the research hypotheses with t-test (Independent).
The findings were as follows: 1) the students learning through integrating communicative language teaching with learning strategies had more English speaking ability after learning than the students learning through normal communicative language teaching, being different at the .05 level of statistical significance; and 2) the students learning through integrating communicative language teaching with learning strategies had more positive attitudes towards English speaking than the students learning through normal communicative language teaching, being different at the .05 level of statistical significance.
