Abstract

This study aimed to examine the management potential components of community enterprises
in Chiang Rai province. An in-depth interview was administered with community enterprise leaders and a
focus-group discussion was conducted with three community enterprises to obtain information about the
management potentials of community enterprises in Chiang Rai province. The acquired data were used to
develop a questionnaire to collect data from the community enterprise sample groups in Phan, Mueang,
Mae Sai, and Phaya Mengrai districts, whose name list was selected from the Community Enterprise
Information System of The Department of Agriculture. Five hundred and seventy-four respondents returned
the questionnaires. The questionnaire data were analyzed by using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) with
principal component analysis and orthogonal rotation with Varimax. The results showed that the management
potentials of community enterprises in Chiang Rai province comprised 7 components, and the Eigen value
of each component was higher than 1. All components could account for 54.65% of cumulative variance,
among which the operation and accounting component was ranked as the most vital with its highest
cumulative variance of 23.01. The findings of this study could be further applied to develop the management
potentials of community enterprises in a more highly efficient manner.
