The Causal Relationship of Organizational Climate, Organizational Citizenship Behavior, Employee Engagement and Organizational Effectiveness of Business Service Organizations

The purposes of this research were to (1) validate the causal model of organizational climate, organizational citizenship behavior, employee engagement and organizational effectiveness of business service organizations (2) analyze and validate the causal model of organizational climate, organizational citizenship behavior, employee engagement and organizational effectiveness with empirical data. The sample consisted of 1,249 employees in 3 types of business service organizations; Logistics organizations, Tourism organizations and Communication organizations. This research studied four latent variables; organizational effectiveness, organizational climate, organizational citizenship behavior and employee engagement. The research instrument was questionnaire. Statistics used in the analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation, skewness, kurtosis, and confirmatory factor analysis through LISREL 8.72. The research results indicated that the model was consistent with the empirical data. Goodness of fit measures were found to be : c2 = 121.49; p-value = .00; degree of freedom (df) =61= 1.99; goodness-of-fit index (GFI) =0.99; root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA) = 0.028. The results showed that organizational climate and organizational citizenship behavior had positive direct effect on organizational effectiveness. Organizational climate also had direct effect on organizational citizenship behavior and employee engagement. And employee engagement had direct effect on organizational citizenship behavior. The model accounted 73 percent of the variance of organizational effectiveness.
