Abstract

The objective of this research paper was to examine the expansion of China during the establishment of the People's Republic of China in relation to the Kuomintang government's 93rd Division’s opposition and the Korean War. The paper employed a qualitative research method when undertaking data collection through documentary inquiries and interviews. The results showed that China’s expansion after the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949 set out to achieve two important goals: security and revolution. Changes in context and environment following the country establishment influenced China, resulting in the significant role of the Communist Party of China in driving the Kuomintang government's 93rd Division from Kunming City to the China-Burma-Thailand border, which led to border problems and further relocation. The Korean War between 1950 and 1953, showed China's first military role outside the country in response to an offensive from the United States and its allies. This led to a military confrontation and the beginning of the conflict between the United States and the People's Republic of China during the Cold War.
