The Academic Administration of the Small-Size Schools to Increase the Achievement Levels of the Ordinary National Educational Test under Surin Primary Education Service Area Office 1

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to study the conditions of the academic administration of the small-sized schools, 2) to compare the opinions of the school administrators and teachers towards the conditions of the academic administration of the small-sized schools classified by positions, education degrees, and working experience, and 3) to study guidelines for developing the academic administration of the small-sized schools to increase the achievement levels of the Ordinary National Educational Test under Surin Primary Educational Service Area Office 1. The samples were 291 participants: 38 school administrators and 253 teachers. The research instrument was a questionnaire. The statistics used were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, F-test, and content analysis. 

The research findings were as follows.

1. The conditions of the academic administration of the small-sized schools to increase the achievement levels of the Ordinary National Educational Test under Surin Primary Educational Service Area Office 1 in the overall of the aspects were at a high level.
2. The comparison of the academic administration levels of the small-sized schools classified by positions and working experience in the overall and the aspects showed that the academic administration levels were not different with the statistical significance at the level of .05. However, the academic administration levels of the small-sized schools classified by education degrees in the overall were different with the statistical significance at the level of .01. When the aspects were considered, the academic administration levels of the academic planning and the educational supervision were different with the statistical significance at the level of .01, and the development of the curriculum in the schools, the teaching and learning in the schools, and the measurement and the evaluation were different with the statistical significance at the level of .05. However, the academic administration levels of the only one aspect which was the development and the use of the technology and media for education were not different with the statistical significance at the level of .05.
3. According to the guidelines for developing the academic administration of the small-sized schools to increase the achievement levels of the Ordinary National Educational Test under Surin Primary Educational Service Area Office 1, the main points could be concluded that in the academic planning, the projects focusing on the promotion of the learning and teaching that emphasized on increasing the achievement levels should be done, in the development of the school curriculum, the teachers should be promoted to integrate the curriculum that enabled the learners to develop the academic achievement in various subjects, in the development and the use of the technology and media for education, the budgets should be provided to the teachers and the students to create media and innovation that were relevant to various indicators, in the education supervision, the education supervision should be used together with the creation of the Professional Learning Community (PLC) to build the networks that helped each other to solve teaching and learning problems, in the teaching and learning management in the schools, the various alternatives should be created and the appropriate activities should be selected for the learners, in the measurement and evaluation, the teachers should use the data from the measurement and evaluation to improve their teaching or remedy the students individually.
