Effectiveness of a School Safety Promotion Program for the Middle School Students in the Medium-Sized Educational Opportunity Expansion Schools under Ubon Ratchathani Primary Educational Service Area Office 1

The objective of the research was to study effectiveness of a school safety promotion program. The research was conducted as quasi-experimental research. The samples were 142 middle school students from the medium-sized educational opportunity expansion schools under Ubon Ratchathani Primary Educational Service Area Office 1. They were randomized by multi-stage sampling. The data were collected by using a questionnaire developed by the researchers and analyzed by using the descriptive statistics: frequency, mean, percentage, standard deviation, and a comparison of the mean scores before and after participating in the school safety promotion program, and t-test. The topics used in creating the school safety promotion program were derived from reviewing the results of the performance evaluation based on the safety assurance measures of the students, the instruction manuals of the performance guidelines, and the school safety measures revised in 2013. The implementation of the school safety promotion program was arranged in 17 schools the academic year of 2020 for 5 times in 12 weeks. The instrument used to collect data was a questionnaire.
The research findings were as follows.
The school safety promotion program arranged made the students gain more knowledge, attitudes, and behavior with the statistical significance. The different findings among knowledge, attitudes, and safety behavior before and after participating in the school safety promotion program had the different scores at 4.37, 0.68, and 1.05, respectively. These findings indicated that the arrangement of the school safety promotion program helped increase knowledge, attitudes, and safety behavior of the students. The school safety promotion program could be used as the guidelines to prevent the causes of the accidents that led to reduce the accidents of the students.
