Meta-Analysis Used in the Research on Teaching and Learning Management

A synthesis of the research in teaching and learning management by using meta-analysis was a technique used in analyzing the researches used statistics to synthesize quantitative researches to study the results of the teaching and learning management. Guidelines and techniques used to find the conclusion systematically to obtain the results of the research correctly, quintessentially, and reliably were essential to gain knowledge that was able to use beneficially at the highest level in teaching and learning management to make teaching and learning to be effective and successful according to the goals and to enable learners truly learn. The meta-analysis could be used in the relationship study and experimental research. The data used for analyzing the research consisted of 2 parts. The first part of the data was the data from the results of the research in each topic. The data were measured in the forms of the standard indexes: effect size and correlation coefficient indexes. The second part of the data was the information of the characteristics of the research used to synthesize. This article proposed the concepts of the meta-analysis, how to use the meta-analysis to conclude knowledge from the research of the teaching and learning management, and the benefits of the meta-analysis. The steps of the meta-analysis consisted of 5 steps. The first step was to determine problems and objectives of the research. The second step was to study documents related to the research. The third step was to collect data. The fourth step was to analyze data. The fifth step was to conclude and propose the research reports including the limitations of the meta-analysis and how to cope with the limitations to obtain the conclusion correctly, precisely, and truly reliably.
