Abstract

The objectives of the research were to study efficiency, to compare the efficiency, and to study problems and guidelines of the academic management of the  school administrators in the schools under  Sisaket Primary Education Service Area Office 4. The samples were 343 participants: teachers and school administrators. The research instruments were a five-rating scale questionnaire and an open-ended questionnaire. The statistics used were percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, and one-way ANOVA.

        The research findings were found as follows.

  1. The efficiency of the academic management of the school administrators in the schools under Sisaket Primary Education Service Area Office 4 in the overall was at the highest level. The aspects with the highest level were the development of the internal quality assurance system and educational standards, followed by learning and teaching management in the schools while the aspect with the lowest score was the educational supervision.
  2. The findings of the comparison of the efficiency of the academic management of the school administrators in the schools under Sisaket Primary Education Service Area Office 4 classified by genders, positions, education levels, working experiences, and school sizes showed that in the overall, all of the aspects were not different.
  3. 3. The findings of the study of the problems and guidelines for developing the efficiency of the academic management of the school administrators in the schools under Sisaket Primary Education Service Area Office 4 showed that most of the school administrators and the teachers proposed the problems as follows. 1) The schools did not have enough teachers to teach in the classes, so the substitute teachers were provided but they did not qualify for the subjects. 2) The schools did not have media and technology enough for the needs of the students. 3) The educational supervision was not done systematically, there was no continuity in supervision, and the guidelines were proposed to develop the efficiency of the academic management about (1) providing the teachers to be sufficient to teach in the classrooms and having them teach in the subjects that they qualified in order to have the efficiency in teaching and learning management, (2) providing budgets, media, and technology that were up-to-date and the sufficient number of the students, and (3) planning for the systematic and continuous supervision done by the school administrators.
