แนวคิดเกี่ยวกับความยุติธรรมของ ‘เฮเสียด’

เสนอความรู้และความคิดทางสังคมการเมืองผ่านบทกวี ‘Theogony’ กับ ‘Works and Days’ ที่ให้ความรู้ถึงกำเนิดเหล่าเทพเจ้าของกรีกโบราณ ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างเหล่าเทพเจ้าด้วยกันและกับมนุษย์ในลักษณะของมานุษยรูปนิยม (Anthropomorphic) และให้ภาพชีวิตความเป็นอยู่ของชาวบ้านที่ต้องทำงานหาเลี้ยงชีพ
เนื้อหาในบทกวีของเฮเสียดแสดงให้เห็นถึงแนวคิดในเรื่องพัฒนาการกำเนิดของเผ่าพันธุ์มนุษย์ (Myth of Races) และธรรมชาติของมนุษย์เมื่อมาอาศัยอยู่รวมกัน เริ่มตั้งแต่เผ่าพันธุ์ทองคำ เงิน ทองสัมฤทธิ์ วีรบุรุษและเหล็กตามลำดับ โดยความเสื่อม ความตกต่ำลงของเผ่าพันธุ์มนุษย์ มีสาเหตุมาจากการปฏิบัติตัวไร้ ซึ่งคุณธรรม ธรรมชาติที่ชอบใช้กำลัง ความรุนแรง และอาวุธตัดสินปัญหา ปราศจากความยุติธรรม เฮเสียดนำเสนอความยุติธรรมเพื่อแก้ไขปัญหาความขัดแย้ง ภายใต้แนวคิดเทวายุติธรรม ที่รับมอบมาจากสิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์ ความยุติธรรมในโลกธรรมชาติและความยุติธรรมที่เกิดขึ้นมาจากมนุษย์ตกลงกัน โดยการอ้างความยุติธรรมทั้งสามแบบมักนำไปสู่ความขัดแย้งกันบ่อยครั้ง เนื่องจากคู่ขัดแย้งใช้ความยุติธรรมมาสนับสนุน ปกป้องผลประโยชน์ตนเอง ในลักษณะของการอ้างความยุติธรรมเพื่อสร้างความอยุติธรรม
เรื่องเล่าในเชิงเทพปกรณัม คุณธรรมและความยุติธรรมที่เฮเสียดนำเสนอ คือความรู้ทางปรัชญาการเมืองที่มีความหมาย และคงความสำคัญต่อพัฒนาการความคิดทางการเมืองกรีกในยุคต่อมา ทั้งกับโสเกรตีส เพลโต และอริสโตเติล รวมไปถึงการอาศัยอยู่ร่วมกันในรูปแบบของระบอบการปกครองต่าง ๆ ทั้งฝ่ายผู้ปกครองและใต้การปกครองจะต้องมีความรู้ในเรื่องคุณธรรมและความยุติธรรมใช้กำกับ
