Myanmar Migrant Workers: Quality of Life and Creating a New Life in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.

Abstract
This research aims to investigate the quality of life and inquire the workers of creating a new life of Myanmar migrant workers. Mixed methods and questionnaires were used to collect data from 350 Myanmar migrant workers. The data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. Furthermore, qualitative information from in-depth interviews with 21 key purposive informants; Myanmar migrant workers, Thai friends, employers and government officers were also used to voice their views. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The findings revealed that the quality of life of Myanmar migrant workers in terms of food consumption, clothes, housing, health, income and social relationships were at moderate level. With regards to creating a new life of Myanmar migrant workers, they had good relationship and speak more than two languages. They have enjoyed and integrated Thailand Burmese cultures, such as food and clothing. People in the community consider them friendly neighbors. They developed knowledge and work techniques through skill training or labor practice to improve their quality of life. They have proved themselves to be hardworking and helpful people.
