ental illness in Buddhism, 2) to explore the essence of bipolar disorder and 3) to apply the mindfulness in the treatment of bipolar disorder.
The results revealed that the mental Illness or in the Buddhist term called cetasika rogo, it refers to the mental disorders caused by the Upakkilesa or mental defilements. It causes mental and emotional disorders and severe anxiety causing some people to change their personality, such as having greed and covetousness, ill-will, anger, grudge, detraction, domineering, jealousy, stinginess, deceit etc, These behaviours may be caused by changes in the economy, society and politics. That mental defilement leads each person’s life in a hurry, competition, and superficial happiness that focuses on material things, including money, fame, honour, and power. These desires separate the human mind from virtuous traditions. Most people struggle with their desires, which bring their minds full of suffering, suffering, carelessness, indulgence, craving for chaos, anxiety, fear, boredom, sadness, and discouragement can cause some people to commit suicide because they cannot solve the problem. The mind is therefore in a distressed state, also known as “mental illness.”
In the case of bipolar disorder, this is an emotional disorder. This disease has a similar reaction with stress caused in ordinary people who may produce anxiety together with psychological symptoms. But the emotional reactions of people with bipolar disorder will last longer than normal until they eventually get worse. For example, the more sad or cheerful the mood will not heal. It may be once but for months or years.
Regarding the practice of mindfulness as a treatment for people with bipolar disorder focuses on the thought process and mindful all emotions that are effecting without the carelessness. In addition, one should have a clear comprehension, or it is called wisdom. The can solve the problem of bipolar disorder. That is to say, a person can know as much as he thinks about what they have come up with and then able to predict the results. It is to look at the broad picture, look at the front and look at the back, as much as the impact. Clear comprehension represents the shielding of bipolar disorder and is regarded as a precaution of wholesomeness. On the overall, the use of mindfulness to handle people with bipolar disorder is a practice of the four foundations of mindfulness viz. Mindfulness as regards the body, feelings, mental conditions and ideas.
