The Role in Propragating Buddhism of Phra Phutthiyanamuni (Prasert Paññāvajìro)

Abstract

The objectives of this  research are : 1) to study the principles and methods in propagating Buddhism, 2) to study the role in propagating Buddhism of Phra Phutthiyamanamuni (Prasert Pannavajiro) and 3) to analyze the role in propagating Buddhism  of Phra Phutthiyamanamuni (Prasert Pannavajiro). It is a qualitative research by collecting documentary data and in-depth interviews with the key informants.

 Itsresults are:  1)  Principles in Propragating Budddhism are 3: not to do  all any evils, do all merit making and purify one's mind. The methods in propagating are 10 ways: giving examplesand storytelling, the comparing,  teaching with tools, acting as an example, word and language playing, focusing on particular  person and practicing individually,  waiting the time and occasion, using flexibile  methods in punishment and reward, and solving  immanency problems.  2) The role in propagating Buddhism of Phra Phutthiyamanamuni are: (1) In Administration, he applied the loving kindness based on Brahmaviharas (2) In Aiding Education, he fostered the education of monks, novices and poor students. (3) In Education, he established a Religious school and recruited resources and teaching staffs (4) In Propagation, he propagated both Concentration and Insight Meditation. (5) In Public Facilities, he built buildings and preserved religious places. (6) In Public Affairs, he supported public activities, organized   project in developing  temple and historical religious sites. And 3) on analysis in the role of propagating Buddhism,  he has propagated  Dhamma by  developing   people, creating works. He  was the simple and solitude monk, thereby he was highly respected by all Buddhists.
