The Principles of Participation in the Elderly Caring of Municipal Community, Nong Hoi Sub-District, Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province

Abstract

              This article is part substance thesis subject. “The Principles of Participation in the Elderly Caring of Municipal Community, Nong Hoi Sub-District, Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province”.  
The data collecting method were field exploration, observation of community living conditions, observation in both participant observation and non-participant observation, interview and in-depth group discussion and then presented in descriptive form of the phenomena encountered.

               The study found that a lot of the elderly in Nong Hoi sub-district had suffered from chronic diseases. These chronic diseases had not yet shown its symptoms and affected the health of the elderly. A number of the elderly were classified as a risk group of non-communicable chronic diseases, including hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, heart disease, osteoarthritis, neurosis and brain disease, Pulmonary disease, Gastrointestinal tract diseases and major depressive disorder. The elderly caring in the community would focus on general basic health care for the first elderly group, on rehabilitation for the second elderly group and on palliative care for the third elderly group. The pattern of caring was defund in the same way. Problems and obstacles were lack of health personnel and elderly rehabilitated personnel. Functional separated offices caused duplication of service or care for the elderly in the community.
