Guidelines for preparing for retirement of the Royal Thai Navy Medical Department

Abstract

This research approaches both quantitative and qualitative methods. The objectives for the research are to: 1) To study the guideline for the pre-retirement preparation of Naval Medical Department Officers, 2) To compare the preparedness provided by the pre-retirement preparation on each Naval Medical Department Officers based on their different, personal factors, and 3) To study the guidelines for preparing for retirement of Naval Medical Department Officers.

            The subjects used for the study consisted of 327 civil servants of all ranks in the Naval Medical Department, with ages ranging from 40-60 yed interview, and statistical data to determine the frequency, percentage, mean, percentage value, standard deviation, t-test, and One-Way ANOVA, and content analysis from interviews.

            The result from the study shows that:

1. The level of preparation before retirement of Naval Medical Department Officers was at a very high level. It found that level of prepay and social activities was recorded to be the lowest.


2. When consideringer indivi age, education, military ranking, work duration, income, and residence type, the level of preparedness was found to be different, with a statistical difference was at 0.05. When consider gender, status, and debt, the difference was moderate, statistically 0.05.


3. Base on the findings, this study recommend that Naval Medical Department officers to prepare themselves on health, money and wealth early on in their careers. It is also found that there’s a lack in preparation to join social activities and that there has to be more support and campaign for people to involve in community activity.
