Understanding the Nature of Science for Preschool Teachers to Provide Scientific Experience to Early Childhood Children
Keywords:

Preschool children are curious, like to inquire, to investigate, to investigate, to seek information, knowledge and to learn about the natural world around them. These are characterization of children's nature. Helping children to further understand the nature of science will build strong foundation for children to become active citizens with good learning skills and innovator skills which are desired outcomes of education as prescribed in the 2018 National Education Standards. Therefore, it is important that teachers need to truly understand the nature of science themselves. In order to accomplish this task, the writer recommends the use of Lederman’s competency framework to assist preschool teacher to understand the nature of science. It will guide the teachers in framing the questions to lead children thinking towards understanding the nature of science inherent in the situations and the world around them.
