Abstract

Technology in the digital age has inevitably played a major role in all aspects of human
life. Even in the field of education, technology is chosen as the medium of modern teaching and
learning. All teachers need to bring digital media or technology to use in their teaching and learning
management, including the teachers who are not knowledgeable in technology. As a result, the
hand-made teaching materials are becoming redundant. In fact, handmade teaching materials can
raise the interest of the students very well and also make the students learn more concretely
because students can touch and hold the handmade teaching materials at any times without using any digital tools. However, it does not mean that using technology media is a disadvantage or is
inappropriate for teaching and learning. Using technology along with handmade materials would be
a good practice for helping the students learn effectively. As the handmade teaching materials are
produced by the teachers using their knowledge, abilities, creativities and intentions, the process
of productions and usage should be recognized. Therefore, all educators should be aware of the
advantage of handmade teaching materials which is still valuable and important in teaching and
learning even in this digital age.
