Remedial Teaching To Enhance The Learning Potential Of Elementary School Students

Abstract
Remedial teaching for elementary school students is a crucial process that helps to enhance the learning skills of those students whose academic performance does not yet meet standard criteria. This is achieved through specially designed activities tailored to the diverse needs of each student. Methods used in remedial teaching typically include adapting teaching techniques to suit individual learning styles, using a variety of teaching materials, and creating a learning environment that facilitates education. Additionally, assessing and tracking students' progress is an essential component to enable teachers to adjust their strategies promptly. Hence, remedial teachers must consider students' unique characteristics and learning styles, accept them as they are, and provide attentive care, which is critical for effective remedial instruction. Utilizing technology as a tool to enhance learning experiences is also important. Therefore, remedial teaching not only addresses learning difficulties but also instills a positive attitude towards lifelong learning and the development of social skills. This process requires support from both the school and parents to create an environment conducive to the long-term development of students’ learning skills. When all components work together, remedial teaching can effectively achieve its goal of enhancing students' abilities.
