THE DEVELOPMENT OF CASE-BASED LEARNING MODEL INTEGRATED WITH GROUP INVESTIGATION TECHNIQES TO ENHANCE CRITICAL THINKING AND LEGAL LITERACY IN HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Abstract

This research aims were to 1) develop a learning model using case studies as a basis combined with the Group Investigation (GI) technique to enhance high school students' critical thinking skills and legal literacy. 2) study the effectiveness of the learning model using case studies as a basis combined with the GI technique to promote high school students' critical thinking skills and legal literacy. 2.1) compare the critical thinking abilities before and after learning through the GI model. 2.2) assess the legal literacy of students who learn through this learning model. The sample group for the research consists of 35 students from the 5th year of high school at a demonstration school of a university, enrolled in the course S 30223 Law in Daily Life, semester 1 of the academic year 2024, selected using simple random sampling. The research instruments include : A learning model using case studies as a basis combined with the GI technique, A manual for implementing the learning model, A learning management plan, An assessment tool for critical thinking skills and An assessment tool for legal literacy. The learning model using case studies as a basis combined with the GI technique consists of 5 components 1) Principles 1.2) Objectives 1.3) The learning management process includes 4 steps : Step 1: Explore and understand the problem or situation (Exploration: E). Step 2: Analyze, critique, and discuss the problem or situation collaboratively (Discussion: D). Step 3: Select and create strategies to solve the problem or situation (Selection: S). Step 4: Evaluate the results and apply the findings (Evaluation: E). 1.4 Measurement and evaluation 1.5 Success factors 4) Effectiveness of the Learning Model. 4.1) Students had an average score for critical thinking skills after learning of 36.09 (S.D.=2.68), which was significantly higher than before learning at the .05 level. 4.2) The average score for legal literacy after learning was (x̅ =34.69, S.D. = 4.99), which indicates a very good level.
