Model of Communicative English Skills Development in Occupations for Non-Formal Education Teacher

Abstract
This research and development study aimed to 1) survey conditions and needs of non-formal education teachers concerning to their communicative English skills in occupations, 2) design and develop a model of english communicative skills for listening, speaking, reading and writing, 3) study and try out a model of communicative skills in occupations to non-formal education teachers, and 4) study the results of learning activities designed for enhancing the listening, speaking, reading and writing skills for non-formal teachers from a model of communicative skills in occupations. A sample group was 384 teachers in the country and there were 25 teachers for the intervention group. The findings from a questionnaire showed that English communicative competence of non-formal teachers was at the moderate level while the needs of development in English communicative skills was at the high level. A model of communicative skills in occupations for non-formal education teacher comprised of 2 major sets and 14 units which reviewed English in daily life in 6 occupations. Style of learning activities was “Easy Learning, gaining experiences and getting occupations”. Research found that the efficient index of process ( E1/E2 ) was 70.40/70.93 respectively. Average score of knowledge after intervention was higher with statistical significant difference at 0.05 level. The satisfaction and attitude of learners towards a model of communicative skills in occupations were at the highly level.
