An Analysis of Classroom-Action Research Done by Suan Dusit University Pre-Service Teachers Using the Montessori Model in the Montessori School at the Early Childhood Level

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to 1) study and analyze the classroom research of fifth-year Suan Dusit University pre-service teachers in the Montessori school at the early childhood level during the 2018-2019 academic year 2) to provide guidelines for research planning for primary schools based on the Montessori model to cover all development. The target group was those fifth-year pre-service teachers in their second semester. The instrument used was a survey of their classroom research features. The statistics used for data analysis were frequency, percentage, and content analysis. The results revealed 25 topics of classroom research by those teachers in this program. The topics can be classified according to four developmental aspects in the following order: ten topics dealing with the children’s physical development (40.00%), five topics on their intellectual development (20.00%), one on their emotional and mental development (4.00%), none on their social development (0.00%), and nine topics identified as important skills in the 21st century (36.00%). After the early childhood has been organized according to the Montessori model, the child has higher development in all aspects.
