THE DEVELOPMENT OF LEARNING ACTIVITIES OF BIOLOGY SUBJECT BASE ON COGNITIVE THEORY INTEGRATED WITH VISUAL LITERACY FOR CONCEPTS AND SCIENTIFIC MIND OF THE ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to develop and verify the efficiency of learning activities of biology subject base on cognitive theory integrated with visual literacy, to study effectiveness of the learning activity developed to a student’s concepts and scientific mind.The target group were 6 eleventh grade students of Thamakapunsiriwitthaya School, Kanchanaburi in the 2nd semester of academic year 2020. The tools used in the research consisted of the learning activities of biology subject base on cognitive theory integrated with visual literacy, concepts test and a scale for scientific mind assessment. The statistics employed for data analysis were percentage (%), mean ( ), standard deviation (S.D), and t-test.


The findings : 1) The result of development of the learning activities of biology subject base on cognitive theory integrated with visual literacy were called the COPTER learning activity consisted of 6 steps content analysis, orientation, plan, together working, evaluation and reflective met the efficient standard criterion of 78.00/75.73 that were according to the required criterion. 2) The results of study effectiveness of learning activities showed that a concepts pre and post all 3 units showed that concepts after learning higher than before learning at the .05 level of statistical significance and students’ scientific mind were more developed than while learning.
