An Evaluation of Bachelor of Education Program in English, Faculty of Education, Silpakorn University

Abstract
This research aims to 1) evaluate the program of Bachelor of Education in English (2012), Department of Curriculum and Instruction, Faculty of Education, Silpakorn University, based on CIPP Model and 2) to analyse the findings and employ them as the basis of the development of the program. The sample of the evaluative research included 50 current undergrad students, five instructors, 22 employers, four administrators to the Faculty of Education, and five mentor teachers. Both quantitative and qualitative methods are employed in this research. The instruments used for quantitative method are questionnaires. The semi-structured interview and focus group are employed to collect the qualitative data. The findings of the study included 1) Context: The content and the courses of the program were relevant to the need of the students. The state of the students and schools in Thai context should be more considered for this program. 2) Input: All of the evaluative items were scored at a high level. Nevertheless, the readiness of educational technology was still at a moderate level. The administrators of the Faculty of Education agreed to support all facilities and grants for students and instructors. 3) Process: the findings revealed that the satisfaction of the samples was at the high level. However, listening and speaking skills, as well as, communicative English through the learners’ direct experience with English native instructors and Active Learning Approach, needed to be added in some courses of the program. 4) Product: The results from the two groups of samples, the employers and mentor teachers, indicated that the level of their satisfaction was at the highest level.
