THAI TEACHERS’ CHARACTERISTICS IN THE 21st CENTURY

Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1) to  study the school administrators’ opinions towards Thai  teachers’ characteristic in  the  21st  century  at  schools  under  Bangkok  Metropolitan Administration 2) to study the teachers’ opinions towards Thai teachers’ characteristic in the 21st century at schools under Bangkok  Metropolitan  Administration 3) to compare the school administrators’ opinions and the teachers’ opinions towards Thai teachers’ characteristic in the 21st century at schools under  Bangkok  Metropolitan  Administration.  The population of the research included 437 schools under Bangkok Metropolitan  Administration during  academic years 2017.  The samples used in the research were  205 schools, retrieved by Krejcie and Morgan’s the sample size table. The respondents of the research were 205 administrators and 205 teachers, in the total of 410 units.  The tools used for data collection was a five-level rating scale questionnaire. The statistics used for data analysis were  frequency,  percentage,  mean,  standard  deviation, and  t- test for Independent.


 


                  The results  of  this  research revealed that:


1.The school administrators’ opinions towards Thai teachers’ characteristic in  the  21st  century at schools under Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, as a whole, were  at  high  level  which were  ranked  by descending  orders  of  means as  follows ;  Experience ;  teacher  is


experienced in new learning, Extended; teacher has self-directed learning skill, Expanded; teacher


extends knowledge to people and community. Evaluation; teacher uses technology for evaluation,     


Engagement; teacher cooperates and collaborates learning to each other, Exploration; teacher explores update content, Enabler; teacher creates lessons and content with technology, End-user; teacher uses various  technology and to  be  a good end-user, and Efficient and Effective; teacher is efficient and effective in use of  technology  was  at  medium  level.


2.The teachers’ opinions towards Thai  teachers’ characteristic in  the  21st  century  at schools  under  Bangkok  Metropolitan Administration, as a whole, were at high level which were ranked by descending  orders of  means  as  follows; Extended; teacher has self-directed learning skill, Experience; teacher is experienced in new learning,  Enabler; teacher creates lessons  and  content  with  technology,  Expanded;  teacher  extends  knowledge  to  people and community, Engagement; teacher cooperates and collaborates learning to each other, Exploration; teacher explores update content, Evaluation; teacher uses technology for evaluation, End – User; teacher uses various  technology and to  be  a good end-user, and Efficient and  Effective; teacher is efficient and effective in use of technology  was at middle  level.


3.The comparison between the school administrators’ opinions and teachers’ opinions towards Thai teachers’ characteristic in  the  21st  century at schools under Bangkok Metropolitan were  not  different.
