Studying Needs Assessment of Naresuan University students for teaching and learning on a General Education Course, Introduction to Computer and Information Science

Abstract

The aim of this research is to study the needs assessment for Naresuan University students for teaching and learning of a General education course, namely Introduction to Computer and Information Science. The sample group included Undergraduate students in Naresuan University. Specifically there were 54 people registered for the course in the 1st semester of academic year of 2560. The research instrument was a questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics including the average standard deviation and Modified Priority Index. The research found that needs assessment as a whole is 0.08. When considering the item, it was found the 3 most significant needs assessment of the students. One was instructional activities using various techniques and activities that were easy to understand (PNI = 0.15). Next was that Instructors provide a variety of activities (PNI=0.14). Lastly, the students wanted to give the instructor an opportunity to focus on the student's listening and feedback (PNI = 0.12).
