บทคัดย่อ

A New Perspective in Reconstructing Siamese-
French Historical Composition, “Airs of Siam” by the court
composer, Michel Richard de Lalande aims to recreate the
compositions in the way it can be accessed by the French
and Thai to acquire the message of their significance in
diplomatic relationship of Siam and France in the late
seventeenth century. Historical study on the French and
Siamese treatises and records of Ayutthaya Mahori in the
reign of King Narai and instrumental music at the court of
LouisXIV, as well as diplomatic evidences, are investigated
for the information of musicalstyles, tuning system,
instruments and ensemble, and performance practices at
both courts, along with evidence of western instruments
brought to Siam. These historical musical materials are used
in reconstructing Lalande’s Airs of Siam in a new perspective
to display the historical sonority of the musical characteristics
of both courts.
