บทความวิชาการนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อนำเสนอเป้าหมายของศิลปะซึ่งไม่ได้เป็นเพียงผลผลิตจาก          ภูมิปัญญาของมนุษย์ในการถ่ายทอดประสบการณ์ด้านสุนทรียะจากศิลปินสู่ผู้ชมเท่านั้น แต่ในหลายทศวรรษที่ ผ่านมาวัตถุทางศิลปะได้สร้างบทบาทใหม่ในฐานะของสื่อในการสร้างบทสนทนา ปลุกกระตุ้นให้ผู้ศึกษาได้อ่าน ตีความและทำความเข้าใจสังคมโลกผ่านประวัติศาสตร์ศิลปะ ประวัติศาสตร์และวัฒนธรรมอันหลากหลายในเชิงเปรียบเทียบ  โดยบทความนี้ได้ยกตัวอย่างกรณีศึกษาเป็นผลงานจิตรกรรมสตรีเปลือยของธเนศ อ่าวสินธุ์ศิริ     จิตรกรนักสร้างสรรค์ผู้มีความโดดเด่นในวงการศิลปกรรมของไทย ด้วยการใช้ภาพสตรีเปลือยเป็นเครื่องมือในการชี้ชวนให้ผู้ชมเกิดการคิดและการวิพากษ์อันนำมาสู่กระบวนการพัฒนาสติปัญญา การสร้างความรู้และความเข้าใจต่อสิ่งต่างๆ รอบตัวด้วยการไต่สวนเข้าไปในประวัติศาสตร์และวัฒนธรรมของทั้งตะวันตกและตะวันออก การใช้จิตรกรรมสตรีเปลือยในชุด Devi เป็นตัวบทในการศึกษาทำให้ผู้ศึกษาขบคิดต่อสิ่งพื้นฐานที่มนุษย์ใช้ในการสื่อสารในชีวิตประจำวันไม่ว่าจะเป็นการใช้ภาพ ภาษาและถ้อยคำซึ่งล้วนแล้วแต่เป็นสื่อทางวัฒนธรรมอันทรงพลังในการสื่อสารทำความเข้าใจและรู้เท่าทันโลกปัจจุบันด้วยกันทั้งสิ้น

Abstract

The objective of this academic paper is to present the definition of art as a medium that is not just a human’s creation to transfer the aesthetic experience from artists to audiences. Throughout the centuries, artistic materials have become the medium for communication, which provokes audiences to read between the lines and grasp the understanding of society through art history and tradition and rich culture in comparative terms. This paper suggests a case study of the nude female canvas by Thanet Awsinsiri, the renowned Thai artist.  His technique is to use the female nude as an apparatus to guide the audience to think and criticize, leading them to develop a critical mind. This method also creates an understanding toward the surroundings through the inspection of the histories and traditions of the East and West.  The portrayal of the nude female image in “Devi” is the topic of study which leads the audience to ponder about the fundamental factors that people use in communication. The examples include images, language and word structure; all of which are powerful mediums of culture to communicate, comprehend and be well-informed about the modern world.
