Abstract

This research explored the artistic elements in the painting “A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains” by Wang Ximeng and integrated these elements into the creation of contemporary doucai porcelain works. Through analysis of the painting’s unique artistic characteristics—specifically in terms of composition, color, and intricate details. This study employed a comprehensive research methodology encompassing literature review, field investigations, and expert interviews. The findings revealed a profound integration between “A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains” and doucai porcelain. The three - section compositional method and the masterful transformation of colors and details were expressed through graduated tonal transitions and ornamental design within ceramic art. The spatial aesthetics of “A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains” represent a prominent traditional aesthetic concept. This study captured the essence of green - and - blue landscape painting and incorporated it with traditional doucai porcelain techniques, fused with modern design concepts, thereby demonstrating the potential for blending traditional painting with contemporary ceramic innovation. The research concluded that the distinctive use of lines, prominent coloration, and compositional techniques in “A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains” closely align with the painted - over - glaze techniques of doucai porcelain. The integration of these two art forms not only preserves and transmits traditional cultural heritage but also promotes artistic innovation and addresses contemporary aesthetic needs. Furthermore, experimental applications and the presentation of novel techniques illustrated a spirit of innovation that maintains the beauty of traditional aesthetics.
