Abstract

The perspectives of women, as manifested in the works of contemporary female artists from Thailand and India, reveal that these artists not only challenge gendered power structures and traditional roles of women in society, but also actively construct new spaces for reimagining female identity through the practices of contemporary art. This article examines creative approaches in contemporary art that embed themes of gender equality, politics, and culture articulating voices of women that have long been silenced within patriarchal contexts. These voices are reasserted through artistic expression framed by feminist theories, the Female Gaze, and cultural studies. The article interprets the interconnections between art, identity, and resistance to power, highlighting how female artists in both countries utilize art as a sociopolitical language to question and subvert entrenched systems of gender inequality.
