The Case of King Rama III

The presentation of historical information relating to King Rama III without a sophisticated analysis has resulted in a distortion in history study in the present time. Most of the information came from a single source, and was not analyzed in an earnest manner. However, considering these information evidences in all aspects leads to an aim of this article which is to investigate historical documents in a serious way. Findings show that King Rama III had virtues and brilliant abilities in administrating official affairs. Furthermore, he was acknowledged by ministers, high-ranked and low-ranked officials, as well as European merchants and diplomats who came to Siam during that period. Lastly, one of King Rama III’s works is his creation of modern knowledge that can be seen through pharmacopoeia inscription and linguistic textbook at Wat Prachetupon as examples. These two works have been used for educational purposes until the present time.
