The purpose of this research is to study Graphic Design Elements of Thai Film Poster between the beginning era in A.D. 1923 to the turning point of hand painting era in A.D. 1980, Computer Graphic has been replacing afterward. The qualitative research method applied using by interviewing 5 graphic designers. 100 samples of Thai Film Poster have been investigated. The results reveal that Graphic Design Elements of Thai Film Poster consists of 1) Illustration 2) Title and Message 3) Color scheme 4) Graphic and Motifs.

The design directions of Thai Film Poster were grouping in 3 groups according to its technology as followed 1) First era, the Photomontage technique with primary colors had to be applied. 2) Second era, draw and paint technique together with the usage of three-dimensional typography. 3) Third era, a photo-retouch technique and computer-generated fonts have played a greater role.

The popular patterns of Thai Film Poster as followed 1) Triangle Shape Pattern 2) Diagonal leading line Pattern 3) Crowded Pattern 4) Three Dimension pattern to show the distance 5) Fantasy or Surrealism Pattern 6) Thai Local Identity Pattern 7) Geometric Form Pattern 8) Text as a Hero Pattern 9) Frame and Border decoration and 10) Fragmented Pattern.

Moreover, the title design techniques widely applied are listed as followed 1) Make the letter as an image 2) Adapt the image as a letter 3) Adapt the image as a part of the letter and 4) Adjust the word to be an image.
