Community Scenario of Maha Phram Sub-District Municipality, Bang Ban District, Phranakon Si Ayutthaya Province: The Perspectives from Local Multi-Stakeholders

Abstract

The objectives of this research article were to study the community situations and to study the future community scenario of Maha Phram sub-district municipality, Bang Ban district, Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya province. The research was conducted under the qualitative research method, applying Rural Rapid Appraisal Technique (RRA) which consists of community data survey and Focus Group Discussion (FGD). There were 15 people from local multi-stakeholders who participated in FGD, including the representatives from local government organizations, those from community leaders, and ones from civil society organizations. The results revealed that there was a tremendous change in community situations with these three aspects: environment, outside-area development policies, and large-scale development projects from the government sector. With respect to the future community scenario, it could be predicted that in the next 5 years, the local infrastructure of this area would possibly be unified; the traditional business segments might disappear; moreover, the locals are likely to work outside the area. In the next 10 years, the working-age locals would conceivably move to work outside the area, which may result in the elderly and children found as the majority of local residents. Besides, in the next 15 years, there is a tendency for new business types to emerge in the area. Finally, in the next 20 years, the urbanization might dominate this area to such an extent that it would be unrecognizable as having been a rural community before.
