Food Wisdom During the Flood of the Villager at Hua Ta Phan Morn Village, Wat Yom Sub-District, Bang Ban District, Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Province

Abstract

This research purpose 1.to study and collected food wisdom for self – management during the flood of the villager at Hua Ta Phan Morn Village and 2. to analysed and lesson learned food wisdom for self – management during the fiood of the villager at Hua Ta Phan Morn Village, Wat Yom sub-District, Bang Ban district, Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. The methodology was participatory action research. The result of research found out that the local knowledge of food management  in the community have 3 phases: 1) preparation of food such as rice, vegetables garden, dried pepper chilly, and the preparation of fuel 2) food preservation such as shrimp paste, pickled fish,  fish sauce, salted fish, grilled fish, pickling vegetables such as morning glory, papaya, lotus stem, Pak Tap Tao, baby bamboo, sesbania flower and 3) the cooking such as Tom Yum with Fish, Tom Yum grilled fish, Tom Yum shrimp, papaya pickled fried with eggs, fried sesbania flower, fried morning lotus stem, fried morning glory pickled with fish, morning glory curry, lotus stem curry with coconut milk, sour pickled vegetables soup, fried fish, pickled fish chili sauce, shrimp paste chili paste, chopped pickled fish, pickled vegetables. The analysis and lessons learned from self-management concerning food during inundation period was reflects the wisdom of the wise people in the natural learning area and self-management to prepare for the flood time by adapted these local ingredients and seasonal food for over 50 years even only have small boat was able to live happily.
