Development Participation of People in Crime Prevention in Ayutthaya Municipality Communities, Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya District, Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to study the level of participation in crime prevention of people in the community of Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Municipality, Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya District and 2)to study guidelines for participation in crime prevention of people in the community of Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Municipality, Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya District, Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya province. Researcher use mix method including quantitative research by using a questionnaire from a sample of people living in the Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Municipality community area and qualitative research with in-depth interviews from senior management of Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Police Station and Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Municipality and group discussions from representatives of community leaders in the Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Municipality community area. The results of the research are as follows: 1. the level of participation in crime prevention of the people in the Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Municipality community is high level both in the overall picture and each aspect. 2. The guideline for participation in crime prevention of the people can be divided into 3 parts as follows: 1) The public sector should learn more to protect oneself from crime and should cooperate more in the planning meeting, training, follow-up and evaluation of crime prevention. 2) Community leaders should be communicate to the people and bring the results to publicize thoroughly, and should coordinate with government agencies involved in arranging criminal defense activities with the public. 3) Government agencies should adjust the pattern of access to the public by proactively providing services. Creating incentives for people to participate in every activity and organize training activities that focus on promoting morality and ethics. Empower volunteering as well as protecting oneself from the dangers around.
