Lesson Learned on Conditions and Processes Leading to the Community Working Groups for Community and Family Development and Reduction of Violence against Children

Abstract

This article had two main objectives. The first one was to study the lesson learned on the conditions leading to the formation of community working groups in order to develop communities and families and reduce violence against children. It also aimed to study the lessons learned about the processes leading to the formation of community working groups in order to develop communities and families and reduce violence against children. This research is a qualitative study, and the study areas consisted of the following 5 pilot communities: The data collection tools included semi-structured interviews and focus group interviews. The research results were found as follows;


1) The conditions leading to the community working groups included the vision of the executives with a focus on child protection. In addition, there should be the main coordinators of community working groups in each community. Such coordinators must be trusted by the community members and must also be good role models for living. The Foundation has always adhered to the working principle of participation from all sectors whereas the community working groups have devoted themselves on organizing the activities with open mind to learn new things.


2) The processes leading to the community working groups were as follows: The Foundation has clarified and reached the mutual understanding with the community working groups in terms of the project goals, objectives, and activity plans at each preparatory meeting. Furthermore, the Foundation has mobilized the participation from the community working groups at each stage of the activities, developed and prepared the activity-supporting documents from the brainstorming and participation of various parties, and finally reflected the learning based on the real-life situations with the community working groups.
