Knowledge Management for Youth Network Development in Crime Prevention and Victimization via Social Media Process

Abstract

This research article aims to conduct the knowledge management for developing youth network. The target group is in the Provincial Police Region 7 area, including public relations police, youth, government, private and public sector personnel, as well as police cadets.The study utilizes a mixed method research design including document analysis, in-depth interview, focus group discussion and questionnaires. The results of the study found that the guidelines for creating and developing a good youth network consist of 4 steps: 1) preparation stage, 2) recruitment and selection of network leaders, 3) training stage, and 4) network expansion and creation stage toward sustainability. Integrating cooperation between law enforcement agencies and personnel from various agencies that care for youth, such as educational institution administrators, teachers of student activities as well as youth representatives who are network leaders can drive network activities that allow members to participate through social media.The network's activities focus on raising awareness about the dangers of crime. After transferring knowledge through manuals and brainstorming, it was found that the target group had a good overall level of knowledge and increased understanding of how to participate in driving networking activities through social media. Moreover, network members can create and use social media creatively. Furthermore, these members have a desire to further the achievements of network activities by publicizing them within their departments and in their areas to create continuity.
