The Role of Public Participation in Community Crime Prevention

Abstract
Police work is closely related to the people. The cooperation and support from the people lead to accomplishment in crime prevention. For this reason, the police have a mission to encourage people to take part in crime prevention with their capacity as to reduce the number of crime offense and for community’s security. Public participation in crime prevention has been conducted in Thailand and other several countries, but more effective in foreign countries. For instance, the United Kingdom and Singapore have motivated the public to engage in many roles in crime prevention with accomplishment. The concept and pattern of this sort of crime prevention from foreign countries could be adopted and applied in Thailand.
