Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study the relationship of walking stride length for estimation of human height and utilization for Victims Identification in forensic application. Targeted samples of this study were 30 males under the age between 20-50 years old and with no walking disability. The samples were introduced to walk on the Zebris Force Distribution Measurement (Zebris WinFDM) platform with their normal walking speeds. Data analysis of 1 cycle human stride length obtained from the targeted samples showed a statistically significant relationship with their height. The relationship between walking stride length and height was demonstrated by our proposed linear regression equation; Height = (Stride Length) *(0.4)+121.51. The average standard deviation of sample’s stride length from experimental and calculated data using proposed equation was 0.63%. Tested results from the proposed equation can be indicated that our method is reliable.
