การตีความเชิงสัญลักษณ์เรื่องเสาค้ำฟ้าของพระธาตุพนม

Abstract

      บทความนี้ผู้เขียนได้ทำการศึกษาโดยใช้เอกสาร หนังสือ และตำราเป็นหลัก โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่ออธิบายสัญลักษณ์และความสัมพันธ์ร่วมระหว่างแนวความคิดเรื่องเสาค้ำฟ้าอันเป็นความเชื่อดั้งเดิมของกลุ่มคนในลุ่มน้ำโขงกับแนวความคิดพุทธปรัชญาผ่านสัญลักษณ์คือพระธาตุพนมที่เข้ามาภายหลัง โดยใช้กรอบแนวคิดเรื่องสัญลักษณ์ (Symbolism) และพุทธปรัชญา (Buddhist Philosophy) เป็นเครื่องมือในการตีความเชิงสัญลักษณ์ของพระธาตุพนมให้สัมพันธ์กับความเชื่อเรื่องเสาค้ำฟ้านี้ ผลการศึกษาพบว่า พระธาตุพนมเป็นศูนย์รวมของความดี เสมือนเสาค้ำฟ้าที่เป็นแกนกลางเชื่อมต่อระหว่างโลกมนุษย์กับโลกสวรรค์ เป็นเครื่องเตือนใจเพื่อให้ระลึกถึงพระพุทธเจ้าและพระธรรมคำสอนของพระองค์ ให้ประพฤติกุศลกรรมเพื่อนำชีวิตมนุษย์ให้กลับคืนสู่ฟ้าหรือสวรรค์

A Symbolic Interpretation of Phrathat Phanom as a Celestial Bridge

     Drawing on existing historical documents, books and texts, this article aims to explain the relationship between the symbolic celestial bridge (เสาค้ำฟ้า), the beliefs of local people in the Mekong Sub Region, and Buddhist philosophy, which later came to be symbolized in the Phrathat Phanom stupa. Both symbolic analysis and Buddhist philosophy are used as a theoretical framework for interpreting Phrathat Phanom as a symbol of a celestial bridge. The results of the study found that Phrathat Phanom is seen as a center of goodness as the Celestial Bridge and is the core center connecting the human world to the heavenly domain. It is a reminder to remember the Buddha and His teachings and to practice charitable deeds to link the humans to the celestial sphere or heaven.
