การถวิลหาความรู้สึกในอดีตผ่านผลงานทัศนศิลป์ กรณีศึกษาผลงานจิตรกรรมของปีเตอร์ ดอยจ์

Abstract

      บทความวิชาการนี้ เป็นการศึกษาประเด็นแนวทางการถวิลหาอดีต (Nostalgia) ในงานศิลปะกรณีศึกษาผลงานจิตรกรรมของปีเตอร์ ดอยจ์ (Peter Doig) การศึกษาในบทความนี้แบ่งออกเป็นสามหมวดหลักได้แก่

1. โครงสร้างความหมายของคำและประวัติศาสตร์ศิลปะนอสแตลเจีย ตั้งแต่ช่วงหลังการปฏิวัติอุตสาหกรรมโดยอาศัยการกำเนิดกล้องถ่ายภาพเป็นจุดเริ่มต้นสู่การศึกษารูปแบบและกรรมวิธีในการนำเสนอผลงานศิลปะร่วมสมัย

2. ความหมายและปัจจัยของนอสแตลเจียในมิติของนักจิตวิทยาและนักมานุษยวิทยา

3. การวิเคราะห์เหตุปัจจัยและที่มาในการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานศิลปะของปีเตอร์ดอยจ์ ในแนวทางการถวิลหาอดีต โดยจำแนกเป็นสามช่วงเวลา ได้แก่ ช่วงระหว่างการศึกษา ช่วงต้นของการก้าวเข้าสู่อาชีพศิลปิน และช่วงประกอบอาชีพศิลปินการวิเคราะห์ผลงานของปีเตอร์ ดอยจ์ จะใช้พื้นฐานสี่ปัจจัยหลัก ได้แก่ ที่มาของแรงบันดาลใจ แนวความคิด ทัศนธาตุทางศิลปะ และการวิเคราะห์อัตลักษณ์ เพื่อนำไปสู่การศึกษาทำความเข้าใจรูปแบบของงานศิลปะแนวทางการถวิลหาอดีต รวมทั้งการศึกษาแนวทางการปฏิบัติงานของจิตรกรร่วมสมัยที่ให้ความสำคัญกับนัยยะของพื้นที่ สถานที่ เวลา และประวัติศาสตร์ผลจากการศึกษาพบว่า ศิลปะแนวทางการถวิลหาอดีตมีพัฒนาการอย่างชัดเจนตั้งแต่ยุคหลังปฏิวัติอุตสาหกรรม จากเหตุปัจจัยทางเทคโนโลยีและนวัตกรรมที่ก่อให้เกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงแนวคิดและรูปแบบทางศิลปะ ซึ่งมีอิทธิพลต่อผลงานศิลปะร่วมสมัย กรณีศึกษาผลงานจิตรกรรมของปีเตอร์ดอยจ์ พบว่าศิลปินมักอาศัยประสบการณ์ตรงที่ได้รับจากการโยกย้ายถิ่นฐานและการเดินทางตั้งแต่วัยเยาว์ เป็นแรงบันดาลใจหลักในการสร้างสรรค์ศิลปะผลงานจิตรกรรมของดอยจ์ไม่ได้เป็นแค่การจำลองสถานการณ์ สถานที่ และช่วงเวลาในอดีตเท่านั้น แต่ยังได้ผนวกความคิดเรื่องเวลาในปัจจุบันเข้าไว้ในผลงานด้วย

Nostalgia in Visual Art: A Study of Nostalgic Painter - Peter Doig.

       The academic essay is investigating nostalgic context in visual art through a study of nostalgic painter – Peter Doig. The structure of writing will be divided into 3 sections;

1. Study nostalgia Etymology as well as reviewing nostalgia paradigm that exists in art history since the appearance of Daguerreotype system in mid-19th century and means of contemporary art demonstration.

2. Seek nostalgia conceptualization and around its factors in terms of psychologist and sociologist’s perspectives. and,

3. Analyze what principles and influences Peter Doig has adsorbed into his creation and framework of nostalgia via three chronicles of time - His study

Period, early work of artist career period and established/ international artist period. In addition, four essences will be used to analyze his paintings for instance inspiration and source, conceptual idea, art element and identity structural analysis in order to understand the notion and its formation of nostalgia. Furthermore, this investigation is offering a form of western artist’s artistic practices who obviously emphasizes on how significant of space, place, time and historical discourse they must be. In sum, the development of nostalgic art was directly influenced by Industrial Revolution’s innovation and technology that transformed classical idea and characteristic of art to modernism notion. The change of conceptualization and style in visual art has also had an influenced on contemporary art form. In case study of Peter Doig’s art fully contained of personal explicit and recollected experiences such as childhood’s migration and voyage, which became a significant inspiration for the artist to create artwork. Moreover, Doig’s painting could not be considered only as visual simulation of phenomenon, place and time however the artist intentionally combined multilayers of times into his aesthetics.
