Abstract

At present, Thailand is certainly moving to the elderly people society era.  In the next 20 years, the population increasing rate is slightly decreasing while the proportion of elderly aged population is increasing more than the working age and the newborn age.  Both government and private sectors realize this issue and they pay attention to this problem.  Many essential projects to support elderly people are provided, such as healthcare projects, caring projects, and educating projects.  Developing elderly people’s life quality through music aesthetics is one way to encourage elderly people to find their happiness, to relax, to use their free time productively, to find their self-awareness, and to have more time to interact with other people.

There are many musical activities for elderly people to practice, such as musical instrument performance, Thai musical instrument performance, singing, choral singing, and doing rhythmic activities.  Since elderly people have several limitations in joining the activities, the aesthetic music activity must be adapted to suit them by considering their interest and their readiness to learn.  The activity chosen which leads to their perfect healthy is based on their happiness, their enjoyment, and their relaxation.
