Show Creation for Middle-school Lukthung Band Competition

Abstract
The National Secondary School Lukthung Band Competition has evolved into a performance art form that includes singing, dancing, creating performance compositions, and presenting a story. As a result, the school relies on outside performers to develop performances for the competition. The objective of this study was to investigate the process of and strategies for creating performances for the Secondary School Lukthung Band Contest by studying from the performance creators for the wining schools of Thai Folk Arts and Crafts Competition in the academic year 2017-2019. Data were collected from the relevant documents, performance video, observations, and semi-structured interviews.
The results of this study indicated that the process of creating performances consisted of: 1) planning and working with internal personnel; 2) selecting the lead singer; 3) selecting the songs used in the contest; 4) defining the main concept of the performance; 5) creating musical compositions for the performance; 6) designing and producing performance compositions; 7) rehearsal and performance improvements; 8) qualifying competition; and 9) performance development for the next round. The foresaid steps could be applied as the guidelines for interested parties in creating the performance for entertainment or for a contest. In addition, strategies for creating performances that are specific ability or adaptation, analytical thinking skills were presented used in performances. These were key success factors for the competition.
