Abstract

The lamp design inspiration inspired by shadow and light is aimed to design lamps exposing concept of form development by applying shadow and light for design and then create lamps with unique forms associated with usage. The data collection tools of this creative work that used the measure work and the observation to approach the design. The population of this work is defined as characteristics of light and shadow are derived from nature. The sample group selected of samples of light and shadow by using purposive sampling. This work selected the shapes of light and shadow from the leaves and branches because it has been occurred to naturally and regularly. The process of building the lamps used porcelain clay and forming them by slip casting and then gloss firing is made at 1,250 degrees Celsius. The studies indicate that:1) able to design and develop lamps inspired by light and shadow; 2) able to make audience impressive in light and shadow from lamps; 3) able to create lamps reflecting concept and subsequently produce three prototypes.
