MUSIC COMPOSITION “WOO” FOR STRING ORCHESTRA: THAI–KOREAN MUSIC CULTURAL HYBRIDITY

Music composition “Woo” for String Orchestra composed in contemporary classical music style, hybrid Thai-Korean music cultural elements. This composition was created to perform in “The 60th Anniversary Concert in Thai Cultural Diplomacy in Korea”, to celebrate the Korea-Thailand sixtieth anniversary of the diplomatic relations. The piece applied and explored performance technique of both Thai and Korean music culture. Compositional ideas on the basis of the Korean traditional scale-Woo Gung Sang Gak Shi, Korean folk song - Arirang, Korean rhythmic pattern – Changdan, and timbre.
