The Creation of Contemporary Thai Art Works from Images of Mural Painting of Si Mongkhon Temple, Lom Kao District, Phetchabun Province

Abstract

          This research article presents the ‘Creation of Contemporary Thai Art Works from the Images of Mural Painting of Si Mongkhon Temple, Lom Kao District, Phetchabun Province’ which are inspired from the impression with mural paintings of Si Mongkhon Temple, Lom Kao District, Phetchabun Province, which are local traditional Thai paintings that are valuable and have a long history in Phetchabun Province. Therefore, I study on the works and desire to create contemporary works, which is the idea to extend from the aforementioned mural paintings, and the combination of concept and techniques, with 2 objectives, namely, 1) to create contemporary Thai art works that are inspired by the mural paintings of Si Mongkhon Temple, Lom Kao District, Phetchabun Province; and 2) to develop installation art in Thai style by combining idea and inspiration together. In order to present the Thai art works with new meanings, in contemporary style, which is the extension of Thai paintings that are presented in the style of installation art that creates new spaces with integrated techniques of plainting, sculpture, printing and combined techniques. Therefore, it can be granted that the works in this project can reflect the predetermined ideas, which meet the predetermined research objectives.
