Abstract

          This research is aimed to study pieces, the performing method, an interpretation, and the techniques to apply with pieces which consistent to the era. From Cello Suite No. 2 in D minor composed by Johann Sebastian Bach, the main components included in this research are as follows: the musical form, to perform as per markings with understanding at each movement, an interpretation of suite, and the performing technique to apply this suite for Bassoon instead of Cello playing.

          This research has discovered that the musical form of Bach’s Cello Suite No. 2 in D minor consisting six movements. Each movement has different musical form and named by the type of traditional dancing in the past and, each movement has different music, mood and rhythm. From this six different movement, they become a suite, Bach’s Cello Suite No. 2 in D minor.
