The Quality of Life of the Undergraduate Students in Burapha University, Bangsaen Campus

Abstract

The objectives of this study were 1) to study quality of life of the undergraduate students studying at Burapha University, and 2) to study needs for improving a quality of life of the undergraduate students studying at Burapha University. The samples of this research were 1,000 undergraduate students (second-year to fourth-year and higher) studying in Burapha University at Bangsaen Campus in the 2017 academic year. Stratified Random sampling technique was applied so that the number of samples was proportionately identified and recruited from each faculty. The data collection instruments were 1) a five-point rating scale questionnaire and 2) an open-ended questionnaire. The data was collected online through Google Forms. Percentage,Mean ( ), Standard Deviation (SD) and Frequency (f) were statistical devices for the data analysis.

            The research found that

            1. The quality of life of the undergraduate students in Burapha University (Bangsaen campus) was rated at a high level. While family aspect was on average rated with the highest score among the four quality of life aspects, aspects including socioeconomic, health and functioning, as well as psychological/ spiritual were respectively rated at a modulate level.           2. The result collected from the open-ended questionnaire uncovered that the undergraduate students in Burapha University (Bangsaen Campus) reported five needs the university could do to ensure a better quality of life of students in the university. These were ranked respectively as follows: 1) improving the stability of Wi-Fi signal and internet connection, 2) stress relief method for studying, 3) an extension of examination period, 4) increasing parking capacity and revenue, and 5) increasing the number of time of free-service minibus running around the university
