Abstract

The purposes of this research were: 1) to examine the level of the school organizational commitment of teachers, 2) to examine the relationship of organization commitment of teachers, 3) to explore factors affecting organizational commitment of school teachers, and 4) to create the equation to predict the organization commitment of school teachers. The participants were 254 teachers working in schools under Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO), selected by stratified and simple sampling. The instrument for collecting data was a 5-rating scale questionnaire, which was divided into four parts: school organizational atmosphere, school organizational culture, teachers’ work motivation, and teachers’ organizational commitment. The item discriminative power ranged in value from 0.60 to 0.87, 0.54 to 0.82, 0.20 to 0.81, 0.20 to 0.86, respectively and the reliability ranked in descending order: 0.95, 0.94, 0.94 and 0.97, respectively. The data for analysis included mean, standard deviation, Pearson’s product moment correlation, Multiple regression analysis and Stepwise multiple regression analysis.


The research results revealed as follows:


  1. The teachers’ organizational commitment, school organizational atmosphere, school organizational culture, teachers’ work motivation under Chonburi PAO were at a high level in overall and each aspect.

  2. The school organizational atmosphere, and teachers’ work motivation had positive relationship with the teachers’ organizational commitment as a whole at a high level at the .01 level of significance.

  3. The school organizational atmosphere, school organizational culture, teachers’ work motivation affected the teachers’ organizational commitment at the .05 level of significance.

  4. The equation to predict the school organizational commitment of teachers, Policy and Organizational Administration ( ), Creative Culture ( ), Quality of Control and Authorization ( ), Work Oriented Atmosphere ( ), Hierarchy Culture ( ) , Personnel Relationship in Organization ( ) were able to predict with 85.20 percent. The regression equation of raw scores were written as follows:
