ความท้าทายและโอกาสในการนำ EMI มาใช้ในระดับอุดมศึกษาไทย

บทคัดย่อ
บทความวิชาการนี้นำเสนอการวิเคราะห์เกี่ยวกับการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษเป็นสื่อการสอน (English as a Medium of Instruction: EMI) ในระดับอุดมศึกษาของไทย โดยมุ่งเน้นการศึกษาความท้าทายและโอกาสที่เกิดขึ้นจากการนำ EMI มาใช้ บทความอภิปรายถึงความสำคัญของ EMI ในบริบทของโลกาภิวัตน์และการพัฒนาคุณภาพการศึกษา พร้อมทั้งนำเสนอสถานการณ์ปัจจุบันของการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษในประเทศไทย ซึ่งพบว่ายังอยู่ในระดับที่ต่ำกว่าประเทศอื่น ๆ ในภูมิภาคและได้วิเคราะห์ความท้าทายสำคัญในการนำ EMI มาใช้ ซึ่งรวมถึงการขาดนโยบายที่ชัดเจน ความพร้อมของอาจารย์และนักศึกษา และการปรับหลักสูตรให้เหมาะสม ในขณะเดียวกันบทความยังชี้ให้เห็นถึงโอกาสที่เกิดขึ้น เช่น การเพิ่มขีดความสามารถในการแข่งขันระดับนานาชาติ และการส่งเสริมการแลกเปลี่ยนทางวิชาการ บทความเสนอแนะแนวทางในการพัฒนาและส่งเสริมการใช้ EMI อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ โดยเน้นย้ำความสำคัญของการกำหนดนโยบายที่ชัดเจน การพัฒนาศักยภาพของบุคลากร และการเตรียมความพร้อมของนักศึกษา ทั้งนี้ได้เสนอให้การนำ EMI มาใช้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของยุทธศาสตร์การพัฒนาการศึกษาระดับชาติ โดยคำนึงถึงการรักษาสมดุลระหว่างอัตลักษณ์ทางวัฒนธรรมไทยและความเป็นสากล พร้อมทั้งเสนอแนะให้มีการศึกษาวิจัยเพิ่มเติมเกี่ยวกับผลกระทบในระยะยาวของการใช้ EMI ในบริบทของประเทศไทย
