Abstract

The purposes of this research were to study learning styles of the students of Faculty of Education, Chiang Mai Rajabhat University and compare their learning styles according to their gender, parent’s, occupation, economic status and upbringing. The 610 subjects were first year students of Semester 2, Academic Year 2019 of 18 majors selected by a specific selection method. The research instrument was a survey form of the learning styles of students based on a survey by Anthony F. Grasha and Sheryl Reichman. The data were analyzed by percentage, average, standard deviation, one-way variance analysis, and dual difference analysis by Scheffe method. The results revealed that the students exhibited learning behaviors with varying degrees of collaboration. These behaviors ranged from the highest level of collaborative learning, followed by participatory, peer-led, and independent learning style. The results of the comparative analysis of students' backgrounds revealed that students with different parenting styles exhibited statistically significant variations in their learning styles at the .05 level (F = 3.147, Sig. = .044). On the other hand, gender, field of study, parents’ occupation, and parental monthly incomes did not result in different learning styles among the students.
