Standard Enhancement of Wicker Handicrafts Through the Creative Economy Concept in Nan Province
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aimed to evaluate communities’ product management potential and enhance the standard of wicker handicrafts. It was a mixed-method approach, consisting of a focus group with 20 representatives based on purposive sampling and 426 questionnaires. Using convenience sampling, data were analyzed using means and standard deviations. The results revealed that 1) the Lak Lai group and the Sen Sai Line Tok group had moderate product management potential, and 2) the craftsmanship of products made from triangle grass, a natural material from the community, combined with local wisdom, scientific knowledge, and contemporary design, creates distinctive characteristics for garlands, candles, and pins. This uniqueness significantly influences the purchasing decisions for wicker products in Nan Province. Buyers place the highest importance on the aesthetic appeal of the products. Furthermore, garlands and woven candles made from triangle grass are currently in the process of patent registration with the Department of Intellectual Property to ensure their future use benefits the community.
